Ollie Watkins has been Aston Villa's talisman since joining from Brentford in September 2020. The striker has hit double figures for goals in each of his three seasons with the club. His highest goal tally in the Premier League, 15, helped fire Villa to a seventh-place finish during the 2022/23 campaign. Watkins goalscoring ways were evident from the off, and he netted 14 times in the Premier League in 2020/21, earning himself a nomination for the League's Player of the Year award.

Watkins has described himself as "a number 10," stating in 2017 that "I try to base my game on his, by driving at defenders and looking to make something happen when I get the ball." He is also adept as a winger. He was adapted into a more traditional centre forward during the 2019–20 season at Brentford.
